Pakistani film industry which is also known as Lollywood based in the city of Lahore, is going to deliver its first actress to make a debut in a Hollywood movie.
Famed Pakistani Singer cum actress Komal Rizvi is going to be act in a Hollywood film called ‘Afreen’. She is going to play the title role in the movie as an Iraqi migrant.
The film is being produced under the banner of a Canadian production house in the direction of Aashish Chanana. Earlier he directed couple of films like Dreams… Do come True in 2009 and a racy thriller ‘Temptations’ in 2015.
Regarding her Afreen movie, Komal in a press meet said that the film is an anti-ISIS and pro-Muslim film in the backdrop of tense atmosphere and fears of terrorism.
The movie revolves around the struggle between past and present identity of Afreen character, who is an Iraqi migrant, said the actress.
Komal is the first Pakistani actress to cast in a Hollywood flick. Apart from acting, she is also known as singer, lyricist and a television host.
The actress cum singer is well known for her song ‘Danah Pe Danah’ in Coke Studio’s third season where she sung it along with folk singer Akhtar Chanal Zahri and received a good appreciation from audience.
Coke Studio is a music television series which features live studio-recorded music performances by artists. It is an immensely popular show in the country and broadcasted on numerous television and radio stations.
Coming to ‘Afreen’, the film shoot will go on next week and scheduled to release next year.
