After disappointing exit at Rio Olympics 2200, Indian Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt has something to cheer about as his bronze medal from the London Olympics in 2012 has been upgraded to Silver.

This unexpected surprise has been triggered by a positive dope test of the silver medal winner – Besik Kudukhov, in 60kg freestyle event in London.

Through his tweet, he confirmed that his medal has been upgraded to Silver. However, still there is no official confirmation yet.

Kudukhov was Russian freestyle wrestler who died in a car accident at the age of 27 in 2013. However, ahead of the Rio Games held this year, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reconducted the tests of the 4th time world champion, Besik sample, which was collected during the London Games.

“Kudukhov is a silver medallist and Taymazon a gold-medal winner. They will lose their medals. With Kudukhov testing positive, Yogeshwar Dutt of India will get the silver,” sources in United World Wrestling (UWW), the governing body, told Indian Express.

If once the upgrade is officially announced, then Yogeshwar would join silver-medalists of India along with wrestler Sushil Kumar and shooter Vijay Kumar.

Yogeshwar noted that one never knows what fate has in store for you. He never expected to receive such good news after his failure in 2016 Rio Olympics.

It’s may be too late to celebrate the Silver medal victory for Yogeshwar. But at the same time it would be interesting to know whether he will receive an extra sum or not.
